Faberge returns to London

[Fri 25/11/2011 03:15:08]

For the first time in almost a century, Fabergé has returned to London with the opening of a new store in Mayfair – approximately half way between the company’s original Dover and Bond Street stores.

Located at 14A Grafton Street, the new Fabergé store features a lilac façade evoking the guilloche and enamel techniques for which the company is renowned.

Fabergé first opened in London in 1906 in Dover Street before moving to Bond Street in 1910 but due to “the repatriation of Russian resources at the beginning of the First World War” the store, which was “visited by royalty, nobility, potentates, tycoons, socialites and connoisseurs from around the world” closed in 1915.

Fabergé managing and creative director Katharina Flohr said she was thrilled to open the new London store.

“This is an important moment for us and for Fabergé to continue Peter Carl Fabergé’s legacy of exquisite creations and outstanding craftsmanship,” she said.

In addition Flohr announced that the company’s jewellery and watch collections are now available at Harrods in Knightsbridge and would soon be available at the company’s “new home” at 694 Madison Avenue in New York (due to open early next year).
