Opal Exhibition shapes up

The 13th Australian Opal Exhibition on Queensland's Gold Coast is shaping up to be "the best exhibition for many years".

The 13th Australian Opal Exhibition on Queensland’s Gold Coast is shaping up to be “the best exhibition for many years”.

Australian Opal Exhibition president Janice Evert said that the two-day event will feature around 60 exhibitors, including Madesen Opals, Cody Opal, Outback Opals, Grand Opal, Beanzie, Flood Gems, Janice Evert Opals and True Blue Opals,  at the QT Gold Coast hotel on August 7-8.

“The world market is picking up for our national gemstone and we are seeing this reflected in early bookings for a variety of exhibition spaces,” she said.

“I believe the Australian Opal Exhibition is the only one of its type in the world. Wholesalers and miners from all over Australia sell only Australian opal so the trade attending can be confident they will be able to source black opal from NSW, boulder opal from Queensland, light opal from South Australia, and a variety of opal jewellery, rough and rubs.”

“We are happy to welcome a number of new exhibitors this year and we are expecting this to increase further before August.”

Evert said one of the new exhibitors was “world-renowned, award-winning, opal carver Daniela L’Abbate”.

We are very excited to have her exquisite pieces available for sale at the exhibition,” she said.
