Jacqueline Cullen Whitby Jet with Black and White Diamonds
Bright and shiny with light and clarity comes to mind when talking about jewellery. However, designs today are taking a walk down a different path, exploring a darker side of gems and precious metals. New trends for 2016 and beyond are embracing exciting features with all black jewels and a tailored elegance from perfect black metals.

A strong showing of this gothic style feature appeared in a Jacqueline Cullen collection in a recent London Fashion Week addition. Cullen’s jewellery uses Whitby Jet, a British gemstone with a deep black shade similar to coal, as the star feature. She imbues the stone with sparkling black diamonds and shiny yellow gold, bringing a brilliant lift to the matte finish of the jet gemstone.

Anne Cohen Audi C6 Ring with Red Diamond
Danish designer, Anne Cohen, takes a different path with a jewellery line from a black carbon material, C6, created in collaboration with car manufacturer Audi. The C6 jewellery collection created for Audi features carbon rings with square-cut red and black diamonds, C6 bracelets, pendants, and cuff links.

Others are showcasing their own black jewelry lines. Designers like Yoko London, Sif Jacobs, Stephen Webster, and Kimberly McDonald, are creating pieces made of black metals with black pearls, black and white diamonds, black CZs, and black druzy.

The all black jewellery trend continues to grow with exciting ways to achieve the sleek and contemporary look. There is a wide range of natural gems as well as manmade materials perfect for the trendy gothic-grunge look that is so stylish in today’s fashion world.
