Romantic couples can now handcraft each other’s wedding bands in Sydney under the guidance of an experienced jeweller.

Based in Sydney’s Strand Arcade, Larsen Jewellery is the first company in Australia to offer such a personalised wedding band making service – and so far more than 150 couples have made their own rings.

Founders Lars and Susie Larsen opened the company after they noticed a need for a distinctly romantic and personal experience in the lead-up to their own wedding day.“

Couples love the idea of wearing a ring made by their loved one,” said Susie. “It makes the ring so much more special and meaningful as they have not only created a ring, but a memory that will last a lifetime.”

Couples create or choose their own designs for a wedding band in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum or a mix of metals and then complete the ring using traditional handcrafting techni-ques in a four-step process: (Melting, Milling, Soldering, and Filing, buffing and polishing.

If the couple wants to include diamonds, a mix of metals or engraving in their ring a dedicated jeweller completes the process.
According to Lars, the ring-making process takes only four hours in a fun and romantic setting, and is “celebrated with a glass of champagne”.

“The process is ‘foolproof’ and has been designed for people with no prior experience,” he said.

“Also, each couple has their own dedicated jeweller with them throughout the process to ensure they end up with two perfect rings.”
Larsen Wedding Rings is planning to open in Melbourne, Brisbane and other capital cities in the near future.
