Diamond dealer Edward Asscher has been named the new president of the World Diamond Council, the industry group that represents the diamond industry to the Kimberley Process. Asscher previously held the role from 2014 to 2016 and currently serves as the group’s vice president. Last month he celebrated 50 years of heading his family’s diamond company.
At the same virtual board meeting held in June, Feriel Zerouki was elected the first female vice president of the WDC. She will succeed Asscher as president in 2022. Zerouki is currently senior vice president of international relations and ethical initiatives at De Beers Group.
